We bought a bed.
The bed on the spare room is one we've owned for over 20 years, it was the first bed we bought when we moved in together, and it's safe to say it looked dated, and not in a lovely vintage way, in a light wood Y2K way.
A few years ago we removed the headboard, just to buy us a bit more space when The Chap started to work from home, but it was just time to say goodbye.
The new one came from Wayfair, somewhere I'd never shopped before, but we couldn't find anything suitable second hand and other beds were really uninspiring. It arrived less than 24 hours after ordering.
I'm not convinced I'd want this bed to be my main bed, but it's fine for something that won't get too much use. Easy to put together, everything was well packaged and the quality is not too bad for the money (under £200). It's a platform bed, so the mattress just sits on top, rather than tucked into the frame and is held on with two sticky strips, we'll see how that goes. But, it looks great with the rest of the vintage furniture in the room and at the moment that's the main thing.
We should have decorated and replaced the ancient carpet before doing this, but we couldn't face it, and the mark in the carpet does provide a perfect illustration of how much space we're saving at the end of the bed.
Another boring purchase, but edging us in the direction we want to go.
The bed looks great. It looks very mid century. We still have the first bed frame we ever bought in our spare bedroom. I would like to buy a storage bed to replace it, but I don't know if we ever will. Every inch of space you can free up helps in my opinion.
