Downtime

For reasons I do not understand The Chap arranged for us to meet up with one of our friends at lunchtime today, the afternoon after returning from Glasgow.

I know people do this all the time, and I don't know about you (let me know) but I need time alone. Even though holidays are relaxing and energising in equal measure I still need time to recover, especially as I have been "on" all the time we're away - there are few pauses, and even those pauses are generally in public, so it's still slightly performance rather than genuine relaxation.

I am writing this at lunchtime, having not gone out. I got into the car, and we had set off but I just couldn't do it. Other than tiredness, we also have to go to an early kick off at the football tomorrow - and the football is not an enjoyable experience at the moment and who wants to be doing things early on a Sunday? Added to the fact I was asked where we should meet, suggested somewhere and it has ended up we're meeting at a Wetherspoons that just so happens to have the same name as the place I suggested.

Why have two pubs with the same name in a tiny town?

So, for the first time in a week I'm actually alone, thank goodness for that.

  1. I hear you! After a vacation I need a vacation just to recover, and I’ve usually brought back some sort of cold anyway.

Each to their own goes without saying.
