You Really Bought Popcorn?

I was going to talk about how I'm doing resistance exercise and saying yes to things instead of listening to people I know who thought I was mad to go to Manchester at night because it would be scary. I was going to talk about how I did indeed go to Manchester at night to see Gruff Rhys at New Century, and about how The Holdovers is my new favourite Christmas film.

But we went to see The Zone of Interest, and I can't stop thinking about it.

There is no way of describing this film without making you think you wouldn't want to watch it. It's horrifying due to what we bring to the film, it's hellish because we know what's on the other side of the wall, not because we're shown it. The sound is almost overwhelming, the lighting is perfect, the ending drew gasps from the audience and brings everything into full focus.

Has anyone seen it, what did you think?

  1. I'm so glad you commented on my blog, it's lovely to catch up with you again. I haven't seen The Zone of Interest or The Holdovers yet, there's quite a few on my list at the moment. I went to see Poor Things twice as I loved it so much.
Saying yes to things is challenging but ultimately so empowering, it's so easy to fall into a comfortable rut. Gruff Rhys is fantastic live. A girl I bumped into at Roisin's gig's just messaged me about a psych night happening next weekend, normally I'd make my excuses but I'm really tempted to go - as a blogger said the other day, we're never going to be younger than we are today so lets grab life by the horns and do things while we still can. xxx

    1. He is great live. I've seen him a fair few times now, both on his own and with SFA, this time was particularly enjoyable, very different vibe to Annwn at Caernarfon Castle last autumn.

I've even invited myself along on a trip with The Chap in a couple of weeks, he's meeting a mate in Glasgow for an event so I'm going too and will find a way to enjoy myself while he's off doing his thing. You should seriously think about going out to the night next weekend, I'm sure you can find something to wear! x

    1. If you get chance to see it, I really recommend The Holdovers, it's so funny, heartwarming, all that good stuff. Definitely one to add to the list with The Wrong Trousers and Die Hard to watch next Christmas.

Each to their own goes without saying.
