A week off work and a trip away is on the horizon. There is not a single reason why I should feel desperate to have time away, all I've done recently is quit the charity shop and spend my days meeting friends for seemingly endless cups of coffee.
For the first time in ages I decided to do a primp of the living room. From the mundane of new cushion pads to the also mundane of moving things around.
The fireplace was still pretty wintery.
The set of metal pomegranates came from Porthmadog last autumn, vase from Etsy, beautiful cotton reel I can't remember the maker, but I bought it from The Platform Gallery in Clitheroe, mini painting from Shrewsbury by Tricia Crowther, cross stitch by me and other bits from who knows where.
Adorable mini ceramic robin.
The bookcase was also wintery
Ancient aspidistra, prints from about the place, sausage dog from Aunty Social in Blackpool, lamp from Heals, horrible bookshelves painted in Annie Sloane (I think) Barcelona Orange.
And after
Print I won on IG a few years ago, Snufkin tealight holder from Baltic, Gateshead.
Vase Boscastle Potter, charity shop, two framed embroideries by me, chopping board from a gift shop in Pitlochry, dipping bowl, can't remember the maker, from Farfield Mill in Sedburgh, Carn Pottery vases, local junk shop.
So that's that. A little shift around.
When we arrived in Caernarfon we said we wouldn't fall into our usual trap of seeing something in the first five minutes and spend all our money on it. Behold, our fire screen.
A £12 spruce up of the lamp too, three new shades from Dunelm replacing the rancid originals. Now, a week to relax.
It's good to get away, especially after you've drawn a line under something in your life. I often get inspired about what I want to do when I get home, whilst I'm away, in a way that I don't get inspired when I'm home. I love your embroidery. It is very beautiful.
