I Went To Lidl

 That's it. I don't usually and now I have!

We were driving past Lidl on Sunday, I'd heard they had marble cake so we went to investigate. Along with the cake were plenty of other goodies, so we decided to do our weekly shop there this time round.

The cashier recommended we install the app before our next visit, and it was a great tip due to the 15% off meat free items, of which we bought plenty. The slight downside was that the fresh veg section wasn't full, but still enough to be getting on with. Having seen the full range on the previous visit I assume this was a one off.*

We bought some desserts, I think I'm going to have the souffle as my birthday cake

The tofu was a bargain at 99p (84p including the 15% discount)

and the highlight of the trip for me

a large tray of sushi (£3.99). Loads of other stuff too, I'll share an update.

The biggest plus point of shopping there was the atmosphere, it was pretty calm and there was no music, I love a supermarket with no music playing. I'm not sure it's going to be a full time swap, but definitely one to add in every now and again.

*Why not just do the shopping there and then on the Sunday, well, because we had enough food for meals to take us up to Tuesday evening, buying stuff beforehand could have been a bit of a waste.

  1. I use the Lidl opposite my work and I like it as there are quite a few unwrapped vegetables available to buy and I like the selection of other things too- they often have good vegan options. The souffle looks nice!

  2. I have to admit that Lidl is my supermarket of choice. I just like the good value they offer and I'm so used to their products now that I'm happy not to go elsewhere, save for things I can't get there. I love the app. I've saved so much money over the last few years. I always check my coupons before shopping.

Each to their own goes without saying.
