Happy Birthday To Me!

I was 50 last week, and to avoid any kind of awkward family get together we went on holiday to London. We left behind a very snowy Lancashire, which meant by the time we arrived we were overdressed to say the least.

Does anyone need to see pictures of London, probably not, we've seen it all before. We stayed at an aparthotel in Bermondsey, which turned out to be a convenient place for us.

I think we stayed in a City Studio, so not huge, but had everything we needed - nice toiletries, cleaning products, washing machine, tea and coffee, all the usual. There was also a workspace and coffee shop in the building, didn't use the workspace obviously, but the coffee shop was great. Had we fancied it there was a Premier Inn right next door so we could have nipped in for breakfast too. The desk was staffed until 10, but we could contact someone via WhatsApp at any time.

Our closest landmark was Tower Bridge, a couple of hundred metres up the road.

We booked the accommodation before anything else, so we ended up travelling about a bit, but it's London, not the north of England, so it was convenient. Tube straight from Euston to London Bridge, so no carting heavy bags all over the place. Then it was a quick overground ride to Charing Cross for the various exhibitions and shows we had booked.

On our final night we went a tiny bit further to the Royal Albert Hall to see Cirque du Soleil, Corteo, we were still back at the apartment within a hour of the end of the show. Needless to say, it wasn't the cheapest holiday ever taken, but it was a good one. Plus we missed the worst of the weather! It may have been very snowy on Monday, it was even colder on our return.

And we're due a chunk of the train fare back due to delays on both journeys! The gift that keeps on giving.
