On Friday I popped to our local Wetherspoons to meet up with some old buddies from the charity shop. It was a bittersweet time really. One of the lads we'd had from the local prison came up to visit, as he does every year, so it was great to have a catch up with him, and also lovely to see my deputy manager, who I hadn't seen since I left in January. But it hit me how few of us there were this year.
When I arrived there were just two of the other ladies there, fortunately I had invited someone else, so we padded things out a little, but it was a pale imitation of the tableful we had only a few years ago.
Someone suggested a re-run next summer, you never know, maybe a warmer day could tempt a few more old friends out for a while.

Each to their own goes without saying.
