Festive Smells

The smell of crisp, fresh air, clementines, cinnamon and pine may well be everywhere at the moment, but they are certainly not at my house. My house smells very, very bad today. There is a distinct rabbit stench coming from somewhere in the pen, so their rugs are in the washing machine and the steam cleaner is heating up. Be even more glad than usual you're not here.

At the charity shop we are selling anything Christmas related at bargain prices, we do not want anything left over at closing time on Saturday! So yesterday I was tempted by a couple of decorations to add to the fireplace.

I picked up four for £1. This morning I added a couple of bows and bells to them and added them to the other wintery decorations.

I don't know if it improves things any, but I think I quite like them.

Although they do make me want a lollipop.

I thought it looked a bit bare, then I found a pile of toadstools on the table.

And now to sort out that fragrance...

  1. They are very simple but very nice, your display looks lovely, those acorns caught my eye.

    1. Thank you, the acorns were from Sainsbury's a couple of years ago

  2. Your fire place looks very warm and inviting. I can picture a long novel, a cip of tea, and quiet sitting there.

  3. I don't envy you the smell but I do love those wood ornaments, a great buy.

    1. Thank you. Pets do like to surprise us occasionally don't they.

  4. I like your mantel arrangement. We also have a pet smell issue, with our elderly guinea pig residing in the living room now. Apparently I've gone 'nose blind' as it had to be pointed out to me by my daughter when she arrived back from Uni. Guess it'll whittle down the visitors to animal lovers and catarrh sufferers!

    1. Thank you.

Sounds like you have a decent pet smell plan there!

  5. Looks very festive. It's much the same at the CS I work in. Just one more working day to go before I take a couple of weeks off. Can't wait.

  6. That is a great winter arrangement, not in your face with baubles and glitter. I likw it very much.

    1. Thank you. I have been surrounded with so much glitter and tinsel at the shop it's nice to have a change!

  7. They are great and if you change the ribbons, they could be used all year round. Don't envy you "hunt the stench". I made four festive napkins today from an upcycled red tablecover and am happy with myself for making something useful and pretty! Catriona

  10. Very nice. I can see why the new ornaments make you want a lollipop. They kind of make me want chocolate on a stick... Perhaps because I have some molds for that. I may just have to look them up.

    God bless.

  11. I like the consistency of the natural wood and pine cones they all go well together. Hope you get the place steam cleaned - or was it the rabbits you were doing?
    Have a wonderful Christmas. x

    1. Thank you, they make a nice change from all the orange and white in the room.

I found the offending rug and I can only guess which rabbit was the culprit.
