Spurred on by ripping my last pair of leggings and having to go to the charity shop in a not quite dry dress last week, Dan has insisted on a shopping trip next weekend, so we're off to Hull. In that way having nothing to wear generally just means nothing that goes together, I had a sort out this morning.

On the way out is a jumper I don't wear often because it's only useful in really cold weather, but takes ages to dry, and a crop cardi that has developed a hole and has started to unravel despite my repair attempts.

Three dresses, I just don't like how I look in them. The red one makes me feel like a small child getting ready for a stuffy birthday party.

The suit and the flowery skirt are too big, the black and white one I only wore last winter when I forced myself into it.

I know I said we're going shopping at the weekend, but I have already made a start, oddly it was at Tesco, not somewhere I'd normally find myself but there you go. Does my bum look big in this? Yes, my bum IS big, and this skirt is lovely.

I never thought I'd wear a jumpsuit, but sometimes you just have to do things differently. Plus, when I think of jumpsuits I always get a Nineteen Eighty-Four vibe. If I ever had to dress up for World Book Day I'd go as O'Brien (Richard Burton version obviously).

I also bought this a couple of weeks ago and whenever I wear it people stop me in the street to talk about it. I don't know if it's still available but it's Marimekko at Uniqlo.

I think these three things will get a lot of wear over the next few months, and I'll be back shopping second hand soon.

  1. Oh how I smiled when I saw this post! When we were at St Annes last week I bought the skirt and jumpsuit from Mr T. Had a look for you in both of the shops on Thursday and Friday when we were down but couldn’t see you without asking and I didn’t want to do that. Enjoy wearing your new clothes-the weatherwas lovely down your way and we enjoyed trialling our new van.

    1. Ha! What a coincidence!

I work in the shop near the post office, opposite the restaurants, rather than the one on the crescent. My core days are Tuesday and Wednesday, although I do find myself there on the odd Thursday and Friday. Glad you enjoyed your time in the van, the weather was gorgeous wasn't it. we spent most of the weekend in the garden, we try to avoid going out in the car when we know it's going to be busy.

  2. I just bought a dress today in Lidl of all places. I haven't tried it on yet. I just wanted something a bit more summery in my wardrobe.

    1. Oh wow, let us know how you get on with it. We went to Lidl on Friday for the first time in many years, it's a new store so it was very pleasant to shop there.

  3. That Marimekko print is just fab, I'm not surprised it's a conversation starter. Jumpsuits look so good, I'm never sure why so many women are scared of them. I like yours!
Shame that Crimplene suit isn't right, the colour is gorgeous. x

    1. The dress is great, and so comfy, I can't believe it was only £20!

I really love the suit but it just doesn't fit, so better to go to someone who will get a decent amount of wear from it.

  4. Beautiful additions to the wardrobe, I love the skirt from Tesco. I need to have a good sort out but at the moment there doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day.

    1. Thank you. I know what you mean about time, I'd been putting it off for a while so just decided to do it. I pretty much knew what needed to go so it only took a couple of minutes. Dan is not impressed with some of my decluttering choices but there you go!
