New Neighbours

Yesterday our very nice neighbour moved out and someone else moved in.

It has got off to a bit of a shaky start as they parked across our drive so Dan couldn't fit the car in. They kindly offered to move their vehicle if we wanted them to. The mother of the people moving in joked "we're not off to a very good start with you are we?"

I'm so glad Dan is a nice person, even after a bad day at work!

  1. Not the best start. Lets hope they turn out to be some great neighbours. X

  2. We had a big argument with our neighbours across the road the day we moved in. We were in the wrong, but our options were limited at the time. There's never been a recurrence, so hopefully things will go okay with you guys. OH got into a heated verbal exchange, mainly due to the attitude of the neighbours son, but he doesn't live there anymore and the lady herself is lovely.

    1. We had a bit of a heated exchange when we left our old house, luckily we had our removal guys onside so it was actually quite fun!

Dan was his usual pleasant self to the neighbours so we'll see how it goes.

  3. Be firm about the parking, the jokey attitude could mean that if you let it go it will only escalate. My new neighbour are lovely, on the day that they moved in I offered to move my car for the day but explained that after that I would need clear access at all times. We get on very well and have a good relationship.

    1. Indeed, we will make sure it doesn't happen again. There's really no need for it to have happened, there's enough room for multiple cars and the motorbike on their drive. We'll see how it goes.

    1. I know! Who would have thought that around 5.30 - 6pm someone might come home from work!

  5. Thoroughly agree that being nice and polite is the way to go - but also no-tolerance on future incidents :)

    1. Absolutely. I think the parents are back again today, but they're parked outside our house, not obstructing it.

  6. I looked out of my window one day at the last house I lived in to see someone pulling onto my drive. It wasn't anyone I knew so I went outside and asked what they were doing. They said that my neighbour had told them it would be okay for them to park on my drive while they collected something from her garage! I told them very firmly that it was not okay and that they should get her to move her car off her drive to give them access!
