My Sadie-Inspired Home

Sadie's delightful blog couldn't really be more different to mine, but it's one of my favourites as it's full of love, honesty and pink things. Last week she shared a very nice post all about decorating for Autumn and she encouraged me to get my decorations out and liven the place up.

That was very much my intention.

What it lead to was this

These are our Christmas, and other decorations. For people who don't really celebrate Christmas, it's quite a lot!

Surprisingly it also lead to this

Three bags of clothes for the charity shop, very little of it related to Christmas

This is my portion of the decluttering, there's another bag and some accessories not in this picture too.

So, is my house now festooned with pine cones and pumpkins?

Nearly!

  1. More stuff I have too much of-holiday decor! I am keeping track of what everyone else suggests and maybe it will all meld together for me. Love the grinning pumpkin.

    1. I love the pumpkin too, so cute.

We went through all those boxes this evening and have managed to empty most of them, I'm very happy!

  2. Every year I want to decorate seasonally and every year ... don't. Sigh. But, I have Yarn Tree now, so that's been successfully decorated to a fashion :)

    1. Every year I want to decorate and every year those ten steps to the garage are just too much!

  3. I always admire people who decorate their homes for the changing seasons ..... but I never quite get round to it, except for Christmas. I used to read a blog that showed you different table settings for every imaginable occasion - but then I decided life was too short for such things, a placemat and cutlery is enough for me!

    1. I love looking at pictures of seasonally decorated houses, for me it's a case of "the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak".

I admire the stamina, and storage, of someone who can produce a wide variety of table settings!

    2. The women on this blog didn't just change the tablecloth and put a different vase of flowers in the middle - they had different dinner sets for every occasion, different cutlery ..... it was fascinating! I do have everyday china, and lovely stuff for visitors and Christmas dinner, but that's about it!!

    1. My grey Converse have been very good to me over the years, but now it is time for the rag man to take them. I still have a teal pair though.

I live in a weird space where I love that kind of decor, but I don't like to have too much stuff hanging around - they're not happy bedfellows.

  5. The items you're giving up look nice - someone else will be happy with them!

    1. I hope so. The fact that they're nice things is the reason I've hung onto them for so long, even though I knew I didn't want or need them.

  6. I am waiting until the construction crew is done and then let the decorating begin. I love that pumpkin!!!

    God bless.

  7. I like to add a couple of seasonal pieces here and there but don't have the space to store too much.

    1. I know what you mean, I have restricted myself to one shoe box of things.
