The Year Of The Garden

I promised myself this year I/we would get to grips with the garden, yesterday Dan got on board too. Apparently it called for drastic measures, so instead of watching Aston Villa v Liverpool we dug the lawn up. I say lawn but it was really a collection of moss so it won't be missed.

I can't say we've fully decided what comes next but the hardest bit (hopefully) is done and for the meantime the birds are having a lovely time!

At the other end of the success spectrum I starting to think my birthday present won't arrive in one piece, my parents have cancelled their delivery today because the panels won't fit in without having to have them on an angle (which is not acceptable to me) because they want to bring my niece to visit too. I think I may look into a courier today, it turns out this is one time saving money was not such a good idea.

  2. We dug up the lawn in the back several years ago & turned it into a veg patch - much more fun. We have next weekend planned for garden duties & I'm looking forward to it I hope it stays dry. I hope you get your delivery soon somehow xx

    1. It was really nice to spend the say out there yesterday, fingers crossed it stays dry for you.

I would love nothing more than to produce lots of lovely veg, but as we had distinctly unimpressive results last year I think it may be more decorative than functional for the time being!

  4. It has taken us years to get our front lawn growing and now this winter we have had very little snow cover. So worried that there will be winter kill and we will have to start all over once again.

    God bless.

    1. Thanks. I have no idea when we'll actually do the work, as we have no budget whatsoever until May at the very earliest due to having the roof done. I look forward to seeing your progress too.

  6. I have written in my diary today that I must get into the garden this week before it goes wild. This time last year we had a real blitz and the results were amazingly good!
On the Aston Villa /Liverpool match I don't know which team you support but I had 3 very depressed boys by the end of it.
I was more cheerful. We watched the England /Italy rugby match!
Look forward to photos of your garden as it progresses. I love reading your blog. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Sue.

    1. Thank you so much Sue, glad you like reading my bits and bobs.

We are fans of neither Villa nor Liverpool, but it was on so we would usually have watched it. I can imagine how upsetting it must have been to be on the end of that result. Still, that's sport for you.

I's really good to get out into the garden and get something done, really satisfying, enjoy your time out there this weekend.
