Brewing Up

We bought some instant coffee the other week and I don't like it at all. I've been drinking it, but I'm not a fan. I'm not a coffee snob by any means, I know nothing about the subject and I'm not really that bothered, but I know when I like something.

So I decided to make some coffee using the cafetiere, it's hanging around in the pantry with our 4 other coffee making devices and it seemed like the easiest thing, rather than faffing about with the stove top one and all that.

So I got it out of the cupboard and realised I didn't know how to use it! I felt a bit daft, Dan usually makes the nice coffee at home, and when you get a coffee in a cafe, they've already done the main bit for you. So I had to look on YouTube for a video. I think I blushed as I watched it because it seemed like something I should know how to do. But then I thought, well why should I know, and how will I learn if I don't learn?

So now I know and made coffee for myself and Dan this morning, he declared it to be "very nice" and didn't even laugh when I told him I had to ask the internet for a tutorial. Isn't he nice.

  1. Hi, I'm a new reader, enjoying your blog! I am a coffee snob. Happy to hear you bothered to make the nice coffee yourself :)

    1. Hello, thanks for reading and taking the time to comment. I have used our other coffee makers before, just not this one, I don't know why. I can assure you I now have a new way forward, good coffee all round.

  2. I am by no means a snob, but I like a decent coffee , no point in buying cheap crap unless you like the taste.

    1. I feared I may be taste-blind due to some of the awful charity shop coffee I've drunk over the years. We do generally have "nice" coffee at home but I don't usually make it as I don't drink it during the day.

  3. We call it a French Press and that's how we make coffee every day or should I say how my husband makes the coffee. If I had to do it I'd probably have to watch a youtube video too.

    1. It's very easy to do, almost as easy as it is to have someone make it for you. Although I appreciate it when Dan makes it for me.

  4. It's not being a coffee snob, I never drink instant coffee, I do limit myself to when in the day and how many cups I drink, so I do ensure my coffee ( I take it black without sugar) is the most enjoyable to me and hubby. Each morning I make a pot of coffee and take it to work in a flask, I get about 3 mugs each morning.

    1. A flask is a good idea for work. I was back to having coffee made for me this morning which was very nice indeed.
