The Grey Thing

The massaging and treating of Big Grey bunny the other week only got us so far. Last night she was very very ill, cold and shivering, very forlorn so she had an overnight stay at the vet. We were not hopeful.

However, this morning the vet phoned us to ask if we'd like to collect our scary, dangerous rabbit and bring her home. So we did. We now have a £127.41 hole in the budget and an angry rabbit.

It's just as well we had a low spend weekend. We went tot he beach on Saturday, puttered in the garden, watched some daft tv, had an afternoon nap and made pizza - I even did the bit I don't like when the dough is all sticky and horrible! It was the kind of weekend we've been saying we want but never quite get round to having. It was ideal.

A nice quiet week would be ideal this week too.

  1. I'm glad your bunny is well, we have both cats insured, not cheap but vets are so expensive theses days.

    1. Thank you. My buns like to wait until the vet is closed so we have to make an emergency appointment!

  2. I'm so glad to hear that your rabbit is home again (even if she is currently decidedly grumpy!) I hope that she soon recovers completely. Jx

    1. Thank you. She's a bit happier today, she's done a couple of high speed circuits of the dining area which is a good sign.

  4. I had an epic clean inthe kitchen on Friday, a day in the garden at home on Saturday and sadly a day at work on Sunday to try to catch up a bit. The garden was the best bit. My week has got off to a bit of a pressured start at work and then my younger daughter and partner came for tea unexpectedly - but she did bring baby L with her so although I had to cook a big meal for 6 after work I did get to play with my granddaughter!
Hope bunny is Ok - sorry it has eaten into your budget - these things do happen - my overtime money has gone on a plumbing bill when I had it earmarked for something quite different!

    1. Productive weekend, and bonus time with your granddaughter!

I feel your pain with the plumbing bill.

  5. I'm so pleased your bunny is back home and well. Aren't they a worry. Ours have always favoured being poorly at weekends or even better than that, a bank holiday weekend. We used to keep fancy rats years ago and they opted for out of hours illness.

    1. Thank you for nipping in.

Yes, they are a worry, it's so dramatic when a bun is ill though isn't it. All that flopping and "woe is me". They do seem to love an overnight stay at the vet over a Bank Holiday, I'm just so relieved we have a exotics vet so they know lots about rabbits, we've learned so much and they aren't just treated like a small cat (as some vets have treated them in the past).

    2. Once they're indoors you become so tuned in to their every shift of behaviour ... It makes me come across a bit neurotic with the vet! Twice recently we were at the vet with Bob in one week. First time we were sent home with the all clear and a bill of £25 because he appeared to just be acting a 'bit odd'! Then back again two days later because he was barely eating but thankfully Waitrose's finest greens got him back on track. They certainty specialise in the dramatic. Belle, our mini lop just threw their game off of the armchair in a temper because there were no treats in it :|

I'm glad you have a good vet. Ours are pretty good and will call us at home to check up on them which is nice.

    3. You don't know how relieved I am to hear that it's not just me! You're right, having them indoors means any and all changes in behaviour are spotted.
