Crafty

Yesterday I learned to knit. According to my expert buddies it's "not bad at all" for a first attempt. High praise. One of them has also offered to crochet a Moomin for me. I can't crochet (yet) so it would be a good long time before a cuddly Moomintroll entered my life. People are great aren't they!

We went to a craft/vintage fair at the Winter Gardens today, we bought a clip on bow tie for Dan, he needs it for when we go to watch aa showing of Little Shop of Horrors at the same venue next week. I bought a woolly coat and some old smelly fabric to use as a quilt back. Bargains!

People make some great stuff, don't need any of it but it makes life a lot of fun.

  3. Thank you so much for adding my blog to your Blog List on the right hand side. My blog is An Alternative Life - simple living and alternative remedies. If anyone else would like to visit my blog and add a comment that would be brilliant.
You tend to get out and about to local events and that's a good thing to do. There are always a lot of local things going on that don't cost the earth to go to. The last thing I went to in my local area is an art exhibition - local amateur artists. Some really good work. It was held in an old 14th century black and white building. Just the right place for it. The curator of the exhibition gave me a tour around the building - I think that was because I was the only one there and she was delighted to find someone interested. A good afternoon as I remember. I had been feeling in quite a down frame of mind and that art exhibition did wonders for me. Highly recommended.

    1. Hi Sandy, that sounds fantastic. I love it when you just stumble across something like that, especially when it's quiet so there's a chance to talk to the artist/ person running the event.

We're very lucky that we have a lot of inexpensive and free events over the summer. There are opportunities to spend a lot of cash on fun too but there's a really nice thriving crafty scene here who like to throw out some unusual events.

  4. We'll have to wear roses in our lapels next time - or perhaps clip-on bow ties!

    1. I like the sound of that idea - at least in Blackpool whatever you wear you won't be the most outrageously dressed person!

  5. It's great you've learned to knit! Nowadays there is so much stuff to do other than knitting jumpers which is what happened when I was past the knitting a bonnet - yes bonnet - at school, red with a fawn stripe around. It was always jumpers!

There are all these lovely scarves, mini kerchiefs etc, fingerless mitts and cowls. There you have it for a few months now.

    1. Hi, thanks for dropping in.

Do you by any chance still wear your bonnet..? :)

My first aim is to knit some of those wrist warmer thingies. I know I'm a bit behind the curve in the fashion stakes but I still love them and my friend who knits things for a living tells me they're fairly straightforward. Then again, she would say that wouldn't she.
